You have the capacity to reach an even higher level of spiritual awareness. You see, on some level, you are the one that "made the rules" for this Reiki energy and how it is to be used. Do you see, it is all you. So, in this particular case, your friend was sick.. go within and you will see that is perfectly safe and ideal to perform the Reiki as there is little or no movement in a sick friend, yes?[instead of waiting until they are asleep] you see.. just about the same as sleeping in our book. The point of the exercise is to begin to take the "outer", even "outer Reiki rules" and go with the flow in trusting your own innate wisdom. This is the second, intuitive level of spiritual healing and will take you "beyond" that which you currently understand and relate to.
You are not a linear individual performing Reiki. You are Reiki itself. Do you understand? You are the Goddess energy herself. Don't be afraid to play with it, and make it your own. It is time to swim with the dolphins so to speak. In other words it is time to come up higher and recognize Who You Truly Are.
